Team Hoyt Shines Bright at Archery World Cup Stage 4 in Poland
The world’s best archers gathered in Wroclaw, Poland for the fourth and final stage of the Archery World Cup. A pivotal stage that would decide the fate of those archers looking to secure one of the eight positions in September’s World Cup Final in Laussane, Switzerland.

Archers fought their way through a windy qualification day, battled head-to-head through the elimination round and Team Hoyt shooters rose to the occasion to advance to medal matches and win the gold medal in all four categories of individual competition.

The biggest match of all being the Men’s Compound gold medal match between World Ranked #1 PJ Deloche (France) and World Ranked #2 Reo Wilde (USA). The two Pro Comp Elite shooters had squared off many times before, with Wilde historically holding the upper hand in head-to-head matches. But, a strong performance from Deloche secured him a repeat of the gold medal he had claimed in Wroclaw in 2013.

Women’s Compound featured a 1-2-3 Team Hoyt sweep with two thrilling medal matches that finished with one-arrow closest to center shoot offs. In the Gold Match, Colombia’s Sara Lopez, the #2 Ranked Archer in the World, was a favorite in her match against Cansu Coskun of Turkey. The two Hoyt shooters drew even after the 15-arrow match, and the 19-year-old Coskun’s arrow bested that of Lopez, earning her gold in her first ever World Cup medal match. Russia’s Albina Loginova went on to claim the bronze medal, also in a shoot off, completing the Team Hoyt sweep!

In Men’s Recurve, Rick van der Ven (Netherlands) shot strong all weekend, and was able to add Wroclaw gold to his silver medal from stage one in Shanghai. The 2012 Olympic finalist and 2014 Indoor World Cup Final Champion used his trusted combo of a Formula HPX riser and Formula Quattro limbs, which has helped him earn the #1 seed for the Final in Laussane. France Jean-Charles Valladont (France) was victorious over fellow Team Hoyt shooter Marcus Dalmeida (Brazil) in the bronze medal match.

To round out the gold medal sweep for Team Hoyt, Ika Rochmawati of Indonesia came away with gold in Women’s Recurve. Not only was it the first medal match for Rochmawati, but it was the first medal match that any Indonesian archer had ever been in, and Ika looked like an experienced veteran in her 7-1 set-system victory.

Whether you shoot on the world’s biggest stages, or simply for fun at your local club, shoot what the winners shoot!

Get Serious. Get Hoyt.

Hoyt Archery is proud to announce their new sponsorship of the ArcherZUpshot Archery Scoring and Analysis App.

“The ArcherZUpshot app is already the go-to app for many of the Team Hoyt shooters,” said Kevin Wilkey, Hoyt Pro Staff Manager. “All three of the 2014 Gator Cup Men’s Recurve medalists – all Hoyt shooters — use ArcherZUpshot regularly. Brady Ellison credits the ArcherZUpshot app with significant improvements in his shooting after he began using it shortly after its initial release in 2013. Jake Kaminski not only uses the app every day, but has partnered with the ArcherZUpshot developers to work on his own app, APPtitune. Clearly, the ArcherZUpshot people are making a difference in the archery world.”

“ArcherZUpshot uses an archer’s shot data to provide a truly robust Analytics section. Their easy-to-read results-based plots and graphs reveal an archer’s strengths and weaknesses, giving every user the opportunity to make an intelligent, informed assessment of their own performance, and to change what needs to be changed,” said Wilkey. “But perhaps even more important to Hoyt is the personal presence of the ArcherZUpshot developers in the archery community. They travel to events such as the Gator Cup, Easton JOAD/USA Outdoor Nationals and the Vegas Shoot, to make themselves accessible for users to ask questions and suggest new features. It’s an obvious partnership.”

Wilkey notes that ArcherZUpshot is the only scoring app on the market that supports all three styles of archery: Target, Field and most recently, 3D. In addition, a unique and unprecedented ArcherZUpshot app for Archery Coaches is in active development.

More information on the ArcherZUpshot Archery Scoring and Analysis App is available at www.archerzupshot.com.

Hoyt Shooters Enjoy Sweep at NFAA Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada – The 2014 NFAA “Vegas Shoot” and World Archery Festival was held in Las Vegas, Nevada February 7th through the 9th. The world renowned tournament, known as the largest and most prestigious indoor archery tournament in the entire world, pits the most accurate archers from around the globe in an intense 3-day competition with absolutely no room for error.

After the grueling 3-day tournament, the record breaking field of 2,400 archers was narrowed down to the very best of the best and it was Team Hoyt lighting up the night in unprecedented fashion. Team Hoyt archers, Mike Schloesser (NED), Sebastien Peineau (FRA) and Rob Morgan (USA) put on an unbelievable display of accuracy in front of the monster crowd as they outlasted the field of fourteen archers who had made it to the sudden death shoot-off in the Men’s Freestyle Unlimited division. In the end, Schloesser took the gold and the coveted $25,000 first place prize, also making him the first European archer to ever win the Vegas title. Peineau finished with Silver and Morgan with the Bronze for an all Team Hoyt sweep for the second year in a row. All three archers were shooting the Pro Comp Elite with Spiral-X cams.

Fellow Team Hoyt archers Kris Schaff, Matt Sullivan, Reo Wilde, Logan Wilde and Sergio Pagni all made it in the pressure packed shoot-off after having shot perfect 3-day scores of 900. Marc Gruber finished with an 899 and was the Lucky-Dog shoot off winner that made it into the finals.

Not only did Hoyt have the most perfect 900 scores, Hoyt shooters layed claim to the highest score shot each day of competition. Truball-Axcel offered a bounty on the high score of the day and each day was won by a Hoyt shooter. Day one’s top scorer was Kris Schaff with a 300 with 29X, day two was Jesse Broadwater with a 300 30X and day three was Paul Tedford with a 300 30X.

Team Hoyt Archer, Tony Harbaugh had a dominating display of accuracy in the Freestyle Unlimited-Championship Senior division, marking his second Vegas victory in his senior pro career. Former World Cup Champion, Rodger Willett had a solid showing taking third in the Championship Senior division. Harbaugh and Willett Both shoot the Pro Comp Elite.

Two time Olympian and London Silver Team Medalist, Brady Ellison, added to his impressive resume by winning the Men’s Recurve Championship division for the second year in a row with Rick van der Ven (NED) taking the Bronze. Both shooters shot Hoyt’s new ION-X with Quattro limbs.

Olympic Silver Medalist, Aida Roman (MEX) had a great tournament and finished in second. Team Hoyt shooter Rick Stark brought home another Vegas Championship in the Barebow Championship division.

As Team Hoyt shooters once again ignited the “Vegas Shoot”, sweeping podium after podium, there was no question that Hoyt bows continue their dominance as the absolute most accurate bows in the world.

The third leg of the Indoor World Cup and European Archery Festival was staged in Telford, UK. Team Hoyt Archers put on an amazing display of accuracy during the pressure packed finals. “Tournament organizers put on quite the show. They had it all… music, lights and smoke. It was the most exciting finals I’ve ever watched.” Commented team Hoyt member, Steve Anderson.

The Men’s compound final was dominated by two Dutch archers, Peter Elzinga and Mike Schloesser. Both shooting Hoyt Pro Comp Elite bows. Elzinga took an early lead and never let up, decisively winning the match by only missing two dime sized X’s. Hoyt shooter Paul Tedford and his Pro Comp Elite XL had an impressive showing in Telford, ranking number one in qualification with a 597/600 and making it all the way to the Bronze medal final.

In the women’s compound category, Erika Jones (USA) was once again in winning form, qualifying number one and maintained that position throughout the tournament. Jones’ victory marks her second Gold medal in the Indoor World Cup season. Janine Meissner (GER) made her Indoor World Cup debut and won the Bronze over American legend, Jamie Van Natta.

In a stacked field of the best Indoor Recurve Men in the World, Jean Charles Valladont (FRA), claimed his second win and third medal of the Indoor World Cup season. Finishing in third was Sjef van den Berg (NED) and fourth was Sebastian Rhorberg (GER).

The Women’s Recurve Category had some impressive talent gunning for the podium. Olympic Silver Medalist, Aida Roman (MEX) started the bronze medal match with an 8, refocused and shot eleven straight 10’s to claim the victory.

No matter the level of tournament you’re competing at, give yourself the clearest path to the podium by shooting Hoyt’s latest offering. Visit an authorized Hoyt dealer and compare the 2014 Hoyts to anything out there and you will see who has the clear advantage. Get serious. Get Hoyt.
