In 1999 Aarsenal, the manufacture of Makarovs in Bulgaria, decided to do a special run of twenty, Presentation Makarovs to be given to the Heads of State, Generals, etc of countries that still issued or imported the Makarov Pistol. 001 to Y2K020, engraved and inlayed with pure silver, wooden presentation case, extra magazine, and holster. Also included with each pistol is a letter of authenticity stating the pistol’s serial number of the twenty made signed by the Managing Director of Aarsenal. Only nine of these presentation Makarovs are known to be in collections in the United States.
